Email Lists

WUU hosts 3 e-mail lists (Announce, WUUNews, and Talk) which are used as follows:

  1. Announce: Used by the Office, Minister and President to distribute official WUU announcements to all members and friends who supply the office with a valid e-mail address. Also used for weekly distribution of The Spiral.
  2. WUUNews: Used by the postmaster to distribute the latest WUU Newsletter.
  3. Talk: Is an open unmoderated discussion list used by WUU members and friends. Membership is optional and encouraged. This is the place for discussion of topics of general interest to the WUU community, be it related to church activities, policy and decisions or not.

List Membership: (Who is on the receiving end of the list.)

  1. Announce: All members that provide an e-mail address to our office are automatically subscribed to the Announce list. Should you wish to be removed, please contact the postmaster and provide the e-mail address to be removed, or follow the directions below to do it yourself.
  2. WUUNews: All members that provide a valid e-mail address to our office automatically receive the Newsletter. Should you wish to be removed, please contact the postmaster and provide the e-mail address to be removed, or follow the directions below to do it yourself.
  3. Talk: All members are eligible to subscribe to this list (either via the new member information form or by request to the postmaster) Note the instructions below to subscribe/unsubscribe to/from Talk.

Who can post messages to the various lists?

  1. Announce: Only the Office, Minister and President are authorized to post to this list. If you have an announcement you wish to be distributed, please provide it to the office –preferably at least 24 hours before you wish to have it posted.
  2. WUUNews: Only the postmaster can post to this list.
  3. Talk: Only subscribers to the list can post. Post must come from an e-mail address that is subscribed to the list. Keep this in mind if you change e-mail addresses or use more than one.

Ground Rules for use of the Talk list:

  • All posts to the list get immediately distributed to all subscribers unreviewed and unedited. The opinions and views stated in any post are solely that of the person posting and in no way should be associated with the views of WUU or the UUA.
  • Be civil, show respect for diverse opinions.
  • Limit posts to topics of general interest to the WUU community. This is the place to discuss church events, planning and policy as well as a good place for you to share your vision of how we can make WUU and the world at large a better place.
  • Use descriptive Subject lines, and keep to topic.
  • It is better to summarize and include a link to an online resource than it is to copy the entire resource into a post. Same goes for pictures you may want to share. Post them online elsewhere and provide a link in your post to the Talk list.
  • Any show of disrespect or abuse of the list may result in removal of membership to the list.
