Austen Petersen
Director of Religious Education

I’m delighted to introduce myself to you as your Director of Religious Education.  I hail from Akron, Ohio, received my undergraduate degree in English from Marlboro College in Vermont, and my M.A. in Social Justice and Intercultural Communications. I’ve lived in England, China and Slovakia, and am quite excited to call Virginia home. I moved here with my cat Hildegard, and am excited to visit with family both north and south of Williamsburg. I enjoy visiting national parks and collecting park passport stamps, so I’d be pleased to hear about your favorite places to visit.

Suzanne Huddleston

Suzanne moved to Williamsburg with her husband and daughter in 1979. She earned a master’s degree in business from the College of William and Mary, then worked for a local research and consulting group for 15 years. Suzanne wants everyone to know how pleased she is to be working with  the WUU community.

Ellyn Stephens
Program Assistant

Ellyn Stephens is our Program Assistant.  She was transferred to the area in 2003 while her husband was on active duty in the Coast Guard.  He has since retired and they decided to remain in the in the area.  She has extensive administrative and office experience and has also worked with animals.  They have one son along with cats, dogs, and fish.  In her spare time she likes to watch birds, kayak, craft, and work with VA Siamese Rescue.  Also pictured is Peter Parker, who was an orphan and raised in the WUU office.

Jamie Bartlett
Director Of Music

Music plays many roles in the life of our congregation. Since the beginning, our choir has inspired us with their talent, offering a wide variety of music from many traditions. Since 1996 we have been so fortunate that the direction of our choir has been under the baton of Dr. Jamie Bartlett, Associate Director of Choirs at the College of William and Mary, where she directs the Women’s Chorus and Botetourt Chamber Singers.

Jamie’s enthusiasm and dedication to the WUU choir and music program is unmatched. Twice monthly from September through May, Jamie and the choir offer works from renaissance and baroque choral music to contemporary anthems to African-American spirituals. The choir loves working with Jamie as she challenges them to broader experiences including the opportunity to sing in many foreign languages.

Dave Robbins

Our Sunday services are enhanced by the piano accompaniment of the talented Dave Robbins. In addition to supporting the choir two Sundays a month during the worship service, Dave provides instrumental music for our prelude, meditation, offertory, postlude and accompaniment for hymns.
