Worship Associates

The Worship Associates (WAs) are volunteer members of the congregation who assist the minister with the service. Typically they welcome the congregation, light the chalice, and give some of the readings. Several times a year the WAs also prepare a lay-led service with one WA preaching and another assisting in the usual way. WAs work as a team, filling in for each other as necessary, and assisting the minister and each other with ideas for readings, poetry, or sermon topics.

WAs meet once a month (usually on the first Thursday) to make worship assignments, review and evaluate the worship program, discuss and plan worship topics.  They also spend time studying and reflecting on the meaning and purpose of worship.  Our mission is to include the diverse voices and spiritual expressions of our community.
