Dave Robbins, Pianist

We are fortunate to have Dave Robbins as our pianist. Dave’s musical accompaniment and pieces are essential and highly valued elements of the Sunday morning service.. His playing is not only technically excellent but inspirational, with selections chosen to complement worship and presented in a manner that engages the minds and hearts of listeners.

Dave holds two degrees in piano performance: B.M. from Shenandoah Conservatory and M.M. from the New England Conservatory of Music. He is currently a doctoral student and graduate research assistant in Arts Education at VCU. He is actively involved as a performer and educator in many areas of the arts, including ballet, visual arts, musical theater, and improvisational comedy.

As a pianist, Dave performs with the Virginia Symphony Orchestra, Virginia Arts Festival, Classical Revolution RVA, Capitol Opera Richmond, and cover bands Full Moon Fever and Trunk Show. Before settling in Virginia in 2012, Dave lived in Boston, where he made a living as a freelance musician. He gigged with cutting edge avant garde music and dance ensembles, early music choral ensembles, UU churches, ballet schools, community theaters, and at least one hootenanny; his main contracts were with the New Bedford Symphony, Handel & Haydn Society, and the Boston Ballet School.
