The Kids Played Unfair Monopoly, and You Can, Too

by Austen Petersen, Director of Religious Education

On a recent Sunday, the Religious Education program at WUU was transformed into a lively arena of learning and laughter, courtesy of the remarkable efforts of volunteers Jenn Sims and BethAnne Klaver. I am delighted to express our sincere appreciation for the engaging experience they curated, bringing joy and educational enrichment to our children.

Jenn and BethAnne orchestrated an unconventional learning experience by introducing the Unfair Monopoly game. This innovative twist on the traditional Monopoly rules added a layer of excitement and strategic thinking, capturing the imaginations of our young participants. As the kids in RE played Unfair Monopoly and reveled in the unique challenges it presented, we invite you to join the fun, too!

Participants learned about generating wealth inequality through systems that are inherently unequal.

As the children navigated the twists and turns of the game, laughter echoed through the classrooms, making the learning journey a delightful and memorable one. In this ode to the joy that unfolded within our classrooms, let us extend our deepest gratitude to Jenn Sims and BethAnne Klaver. Their commitment to creating a vibrant and stimulating learning experience truly embodies the essence of our educational endeavors.

Would you like to try the game at home?  Please see these rules below.
