Sunday, January 22, at 10:00 am: “Rainbow Bible: Lifting up LGBTQ+-Positivity in the Jewish and Christian Scriptures,” led by Rev. Laura Horton-Ludwig, Minister

Too many members of the LGBTQ+ community have been hurt by judgmental religious communities and biased Biblical scholarship. Today we’ll take a tour through the many LGBTQ+-affirming stories and texts in the Bible, creating space for all of us to see ourselves beautifully reflected in its pages.

Sunday, January 29, at 10:00 am: Worship service led by Rev. David Tetrault, Guest Worship Leader

On January 29, our Guest Worship Leader will be Rev. David Tetrault. He has been an Episcopal priest for 50 years but calls himself a “high mass Unitarian Universalist.” Officially retired, he still serves a small church in southern Virginia twice a month. If you don’t see him at WUU, he’s probably there.

Back in the ’80s, he presented himself at the Cole Bros. circus in Richmond just to see if there might be a ministry opportunity there. That opened a series of doors to circus life culminating in an official appointment in 1994 as national circus chaplain, a position jointly held with Father Jerry Hogan of the Archdiocese of Boston. Bruton Parish, then Tetrault’s base, agreed to support him. David says that it was the culmination of a dream that began in the 1940s, when Tetrault’s father took him to see his first circus. He calls himself a circus junkie and says there is no bad circus….only no circus. Today, he will share stories of what his favorite aerialist can teach us about living in true balance.
