This isn’t exactly what UUs believe, although many of us do, but rather what are the common statements of UU values and how did they come to be. It’s changed more than one might realize, and more recently. We’ll explore the past and more recent history today as well as talk about what it means for us now.
Sunday, October 8, at 10:00 am: “Re-Educating Ourselves,” led by Rev. Michelle Collins, Interim Minister
So-called “Columbus Day” is right around the corner. This, along with many other aspects of our nation’s history, as well as the language that we may use, has been funneled through particular mindsets or agendas. What do they look like if we take a hard look at them with our UU justice-seeking glasses on? What are each of our opportunities for re-educating ourselves? (Ex: Rev. Michelle grew up loving the books Little House on the Prairie and Where The Wild Things Are. What a surprise those actually were. She’ll tell you more in church!)
