A classically trained pianist with a Master of Music in Piano from the University of Texas at Austin, Heidi E. Souza has performed solo recitals in VA, TX, NJ, PA and NC, including concerts at St. Mark’s Church in Philadelphia and at Grace Church in Haddonfield, NJ. While living in Bath, NC from 2001 to 2022, she performed solo concerts in Raleigh, Wilson, Greenville, Rocky Mount, Bath, Washington, Tarboro and Winston-Salem, NC. She also has extensive accompanying experience, performing chamber music as harpsichordist in Colonial Williamsburg, accompanying recitals for solo vocalists in the College of William & Mary Music Dept. and accompanying vocal and instrumental soloists for the University of Texas School of Music. She accompanied the Williamsburg Women’s Chorus in VA and the Beaufort County Choral Society in NC. Heidi has recorded 3 CDs: Berceuse and Friends: Lullabies, Night Pieces and Fantasies to Soothe and Inspire the Spirit (romantic classics), Souza Plays Joplin (ragtime), and the lush, colorful, cascading sounds of Heidi Plays Debussy. She has served as church organist in VA, TX, NJ, and NC, including at Hickory Neck Church in Toano, VA, and, most recently, at Zion Episcopal Church in Washington, NC. She and her husband, the Rev. Ray Souza, and their 4 cats, recently relocated to the Williamsburg/Surry, VA area to be closer to family. She sometimes calls herself a “Quaker-palian,” having attended and joined the Williamsburg Friends Meeting and served as organist in several Episcopal churches. Her B.A. in Sociology from the College of W&M and her vocation as “V.I.P.” coach ~Vision, Inspiration, Purpose~ represent some of her other passions.
