WUU will be hosting the Community of Faith Mission homeless shelter February 16-23. Temple Beth El will be our partner.
Many of you volunteered last year to participate in one or more areas, and all were grateful for the opportunity to put our WUU social justice principle into practice. “WUU’s prophetic leadership in environmental and social issues moves the world toward justice, healing and sustainability.”
This year’s chairs are Helen Hansen and Kathy Suslik. Key leaders are: Stacey Felipe, PM check-in, Jessica O’Brien, food preparation and presentation, Dave and Virginia Banks, AM check-out. Contact person for our Temple Beth El is Jon Schmeyer.
A minimum of 14 people plus cooks will be needed each of the 7 nights of the shelter, plus a crew for set up on the first and last days. So, there will be many opportunities to participate.
Our COFM team will be signing up volunteers in the narthex Dec. 8 and 15, Jan. 5, 12, 19, 26, and Feb. 2 and 9. Additionally Dave and Stacey will be setting up on-line volunteering.
We will be offering fellowship and training at a potluck Sat., Jan. 18, with alternative training between services Feb. 2 and 9.
We look forward to being part of this faith based community partnership that will house our most vulnerable neighbors for the entire cold season, and to enriching our WUU spirit of fellowship with each other.
