It’s hard to believe it’s been 4 months since our first online “Time, Talent, Treasure” auction. I’m happy to announce that our net proceeds after all the bills were paid, and additional revenue, we have raised $20,200 to be applied to the 2023-24 budget. This past weekend Amy McKnight (UUCC) and I presented a workshop at the Tidewater Cluster in which we shared the success of our individual auctions using Auctria, and Amy shared some of the other fundraising events they do on Sunday mornings. I am hoping to offer similar fundraising opportunities next fall which will rely heavily on those who bake and enjoy making soups. More on that later.
I have tentatively scheduled our next online Auction for the week of November 5 – 12, 2023. Now that you have experienced the online process I hope everyone will start brainstorming “activities” you might offer as your Auction donation. The Glen Allen UUs offer a variety of activities that keep everyone engaged throughout the year such as a “1920s Speakeasy,” a Texas-style bar-b-que, a Grateful Dead lawn party, and many other fun events. Start the brainstorming process so that next year’s auction will be even bigger and better!
I have been hearing lots of compliments and kudos about the events that were offered at our Auction. Right now, we have something going on most every month and people continue to ask if they can “buy a seat” for a dinner, or event. Please don’t forget to send me photos of events so that I can use them for marketing purposes next fall. In the meantime, have fun and enjoy the fellowship. We are all in need of laughter and togetherness as we emerge from the pandemic. Here are a few photos from Jess O’Brien/Carolyn Greathouse’s “Bunco and Chili Night,” Marion Wolfe and Katrina Landon’s “Mad Hatter Tea Party,” and Leslie Fabian’s “Three Homemade Desserts!”
