Dear WUU community,
It’s been wonderful to see so many of you in person and on screens these days. Easter was a special treat. We enjoyed wonderful music led by our choir and a brand-new musical ensemble. So many kids had fun on the playground, and we welcomed lots of new visitors stopping by to check out the congregation. I hope you too have been having fun connecting and re-connecting with each other.
But please don’t forget, it’s even more important to show up when you’re not feeling great. These days are not so easy in our world. If you’re feeling stressed and burnt out and discouraged, you are not alone. But community can help, it really can. Here, we gather to help one another, to be of service to our neighbors, to have some fun along the way…and to lean on our faith tradition which always reminds us that we are loved, no matter what, and our choices can help make the world better.
Be well, friends. Ask for help when you need to, show up when you can, offer what you can, and remember: your presence here is a gift!
P.S. Here’s an update on a few good things happening at WUU:
- We’re hiring! The search is now open for our new music director and pianist. If you know anyone you think would be a good fit, please encourage them to apply.
- This month, the Board welcomes new members Franz Gross, Colin Miller-Moore, and Les Solomon, and warmly thanks outgoing members Allen Cooke, Jessica O’Brien, and Bruce Thomas for their service. On the ministry side of things, please welcome Pat Russo as the new co-chair of the Caring Team, along with continuing co-chair Anne Stevens. Pat is replacing Les in this role now that he is beginning his term on the Board.
- The annual UUA General Assembly, a gathering of UUs from across the continent for learning, worship, connection, and business, is coming up next month. Anyone can register to go, either online or in-person in Portland, Oregon. Our Board will be appointing several delegates to officially represent WUU; if you’re interested in serving as a delegate, please contact Les Solomon at boardpresident@wuu.org.
In faith,
Rev. Laura
