Lighting the Chalice
Ben Thacker-Gwaltney

We light this chalice
for the warmth of love;
for the light of truth;
for the energy of action;
and for the harmony of peace:
Peace in our hearts,
peace in our community,
and peace in our world.

Contributions on this Share the Plate for Social Justice Sunday will go to RIP Medical Debt. Every day 79,000,000 Americans choose between paying their medical bills and basic needs like food and shelter. 66% of all bankruptcies are tied to medical debt and more than 25% of credit card debt is medical-related. Medical debt is a uniquely American injustice. It prevents millions from achieving financial stability and subjects them to emotional anguish. Our recipient for the third Sunday collection is working to change that. RIP Medical Debt is a non-profit organization that buys debt at a significant discount so that families can be relieved of their medical debt burden. UU congregations around the country are working with RIP Medical Debt to provide this relief. Your donation will have a significant impact. Every $100 donated relieves $10,000 in medical debt. Thank you for your generosity.

Extinguishing the Chalice
Ben Thacker-Gwaltney

We extinguish this flame,
but not the light of truth,
the warmth of community,
or the fire of commitment.
These we carry in our hearts
until we are together again.

Closing Circle & Benediction
Keith Robinson
