The Unitarian Universalist Circle at the College of William & Mary recently hosted a special self-care event, inspired by an invitation from the Minecraft Club. This group of young gamers, who use the popular world-building platform Minecraft to foster creativity and teamwork, wanted to explore how self-care could be integrated into life. To guide the discussion, they invited Austen Petersen to share insights on self-care and creativity.
What is Minecraft? Minecraft is an online game where players build and explore limitless worlds, using creativity to construct landscapes, buildings, and even entire communities. Minecraft encourages collaboration, self-expression, and the development of empathy in both digital and interpersonal interactions.
Building Community Through Collaboration
This event was a collaboration between the Minecraft Club and the Unitarian Universalist Circle, which is sponsored by WUU. The UU Circle at the college offers students a space to explore UU principles while reflecting on their own beliefs and values. This partnership reflects a key tenet of Unitarian Universalism: that spiritual growth and exploration thrive in diverse, supportive communities.
A big thank you to everyone who participated, and we look forward to seeing you at the next event!
