History Half Told is Untold Documentary
The Let Freedom Ring Foundation presents the documentary that gives an in-depth look into the history of the Historic First Baptist Church in Williamsburg, the oldest continually active African American church in the United States established by both free and enslaved blacks. A Q&A will follow the film.

Speakers during the ceremony will include James Curtis, Willie Parker, and Ywone Edwards-Ingram. Everyone is welcome. The ceremony will also be livestreamed and recorded for those who can’t make it to the Historic Area.

After Angelo
“After Angelo,” a one-day program honoring the legacy of one of the first African women mentioned by name in the historical record at Jamestown, returns for a lively celebration of African American culture and heritage. Enjoy a day of art, music, storytelling and community. Programs adapted with protective safety protocols.

Program Highlights
11 a.m.-5 p.m. Black Artist Showcase featuring artwork on display, some of which will be available for purchase.
12 -12:30 p.m. Opening drum call and libation by Chadra Pittman and The Sankofa Projects: “It began with a woman on the White Lion: Remembering Angelo, Araminta and the African Women who Shaped America”
2-3 p.m. “The Artist as Griot” Community Conversation with Barbara Hamm Lee, host of WHRV’s “Another View” radio program, and Steve Prince, distinguished artist in residence at William & Mary’s Muscarelle Museum of Art

Performances throughout the day:
• Original compositions for violin performed by Odysseus
• “The Heart of Angela” performance by Valarie Gray Holmes
• Spirituals and gospel songs by Rejoicing
• Storytelling by Dylan Pritchett and Yemimah
• End-of-day drum circle led by master drummer Adam Canaday
