A first-ever event happens Saturday, March 7, when UUA professional staff arrive to teach a series of leadership workshops. These workshops, called the Extended Leadership Experience, are offered to clusters throughout the country, and for the Tidewater Cluster this is a rare opportunity for this UUA-provided leadership training.
Participation is by registration-only, with more than 50 UUs from our cluster accepted for these ExLE workshops.
Nineteen WUUs will attend this four-part series, including Rev. Laura, Ty Alexander, BethAnn Klaver, Katrina Landon, Susan Marcincus, Kate McGaw, Angela Surber, Bruce Thomas, Dylan Varney, Scott Varney, Susan Walkley, Melanie Williamson, Kerry Mellette, Pat Russo, Linda Lane-Hamilton, Carolyn Wilson, Jessica O’Brien, Anne Stevens, and John Whitley.
The UUA has ordered lunches, but WUU is responsible for light breakfast items and snacks throughout the day. If you are willing to provide snacks, email lindalanehamilton@gmail.com to volunteer. You can bring food Friday, March 6, between 2 – 4 or Saturday morning, March 7, between 8 – 9.
Local arrangements are being led by WUU’s Tidewater Cluster steering committee members Linda Lane-Hamilton and Dave Wilcox, with support from Leadership Development team members Kerry Mellette and Pat Russo. Dave is providing support both for breakfast and for AV assistance throughout the day.
The remaining three workshops in April, May, and June will be held at other cluster UU congregations in Glen Allen, Richmond, and Newport News. Our Tidewater cluster consists of seven congregations—Fredericksburg, White Stone, Virginia Beach, Newport News, Williamsburg, Richmond and Glen Allen.
