WUU volunteers, current and future, will be offered multiple opportunities for
training and support, initiated this year by the Leadership Development Planning
team and carried forward next year by a new training team. Other UUA training
programs are also available for next year.
A small group of WUU volunteers will participate in the first sessions of leadership
training starting March 30, a Saturday workshop that introduces the program and is
expected to lead to a series of small-group workshops later in the spring. Once the
pilot is completed, evaluated, and revised, it will be offered next year for those
interested in leadership development.
Many of us come from leadership positions in the larger community. Others are
actively involved at WUU and looking for leadership tools. The workshops will
address how religious leadership is different, how we can view ourselves as servant
leaders, how our organizational structure supports shared ministry and decision-
making, and how we can serve as the best possible stewards of our committees,
teams, board, and congregations.
UUA denominational leadership experiences will be offered next year, including a 4-
month series of workshops with our cluster congregations led by the UUA Southern
Region. Four cluster congregations will host each of the four weekends, but the UUA
is responsible for materials, teaching, and assigning supplemental study. The
Leadership Development Planning Team has asked for a budget to support
attendance for at least 10 WUUs.
The Leadership Development Team believes leadership development is “part of the
arc of faith development.” The Leadership Development Program is intended to
provide WUU members with the knowledge and skills to engage others in
meaningful service that helps us realize the Unitarian Universalists’ vision and
values personally, in our congregation and in the world community.
We look forward to serving your needs so you can better serve others
