Join us Friday, February 7 at 12 noon for the monthly All Together Brown Bag Lunch Discussion, at Williamsburg Baptist Church, 227 Richmond Road. Please park in the rear parking lot.

This month’s discussion Women Veterans: Meeting Their Special Needs. Talking about change is not enough. We need to take action, led by Shirley Smith.

Ms. Smith is a career military professional, who retired after 30 years of active duty service. She is a graduate of the U.S. Army Sergeants Major Academy, served as an Instructor at various levels of assignments; and upon retiring, worked as a contract Instructor for the U.S. Army Transportation School. Some of her accomplishments include: Senior Vice Commander of DAV Chapter 6, Hampton; where she also serves as a certified Chapter Service Officer. Shirley is a member of the Women Veterans Committee; Regional Chair of the Central East Region of the National Association of Black Military Women (consisting of 5 states) where her active recruitment efforts for this organization resulted in one of the largest chapters in the Association. She is also a member of the Women in Military Service of America, and the Fort Eustis Retiree Council.

Locally her civic interests include Board member of the League of Women Voters, Williamsburg Chapter; the NAACP-Williamsburg, Executive and Education Committees; a member of All Together, Ministry leader of the New Zion Baptist Church Women’s Ministry, and also served as Superintendent of Sunday school for the past four years.
