“Our Ministry of Pastoral Care” by Rev. Jennifer Ryu, co-minister
Our word “pastor” comes from Latin words meaning “to nourish.” We usually think of this spiritually nourishing role in the context of illness or crisis, but we all have pastoral needs and pastoral nourishment to give in everyday life. Pastoring is a way of being as much as a way of doing. It is a spiritual practice that requires no professional training—an essential element in lay ministry. Come reflect on how this practice can enrich what you bring to all of your relationships.
