Opening Hymn

Lighting the Chalice
Liz Wiley

We light this chalice
for the warmth of love;
for the light of truth;
for the energy of action;
and for the harmony of peace:
Peace in our hearts,
peace in our community,
and peace in our world.

Twice a month we Share the Plate with local or nonprofit human service organizations that provide a much-needed service to our community. It offers us an opportunity to extend our compassion to others in need. This week, your contributions will go to Homes Fur Hounds, Inc., a group of volunteers who rescue homeless, unwanted, abandoned, neglected, and abused small dogs. While the group focuses on discarded hunting dogs, volunteers also rescue pregnant dogs, puppies, seniors, dogs with medical needs, and everything in between. They save most of their animals from kill shelters around the state, but also accept owner surrenders and stray surrenders. Homes Fur Hounds operates solely out of foster homes, where their dogs learn how to live in a home with a family and are provided with all the medical care, food, shelter, and support that they need to become healthy and adoptable. Their goal is simple: to find great, lifelong, loving homes for as many small dogs as possible. Thank you so much for your generosity.

Closing Hymn

Extinguishing the Chalice
Liz Wiley

We extinguish this flame,
but not the light of truth,
the warmth of community,
or the fire of commitment.
These we carry in our hearts
until we are together again.
