Our WUU Motel Meal team delivers 80 meals once a month to families living in motels, and our crockpot team delivers shelf stable groceries and recipes for crockpot meals to motel families monthly. Our WUU Summer Meals for Kids team makes and delivers 200 bag lunches all summer to children living in motels and low-income housing developments.

  • Community of Faith Mission (COFM) is a faith-based emergency shelter program that serves those experiencing homelessness in the Greater Williamsburg community during the coldest months of the year. One week each year typically between mid-November and mid-March, WUU hosts the winter shelter and provides nourishment to those facing homelessness. Guests are welcomed, provided with meals, and treated with dignity and respect. The COFM program operates for up to 18 weeks total, accommodating up to 25 guests per night.

  • WUU is a member of the Virginia Interfaith Center for Public Policy, a faith-based non-partisan organization that advocates for fair, just, equitable laws in Virginia. VICPP provides information all year and invites our WUU members to the annual Day for All People to lobby our legislators to pass progressive laws, such as increase in the minimum wage and lowering payday lending interest rates.

  • During the pandemic, WUU hosted food drives, provided funding to organizations providing emergency food and housing assistance, distributed food, and advertised volunteer opportunities to those who felt comfortable safely volunteering in a variety of ways.
