New UUA Offering for UU Youth: Young UU Project (YUUP) Discord

YUUP (the Young UU Project) is an inclusive community care network on Discord for high school aged UUs and those in their first year as an adult. In order for your youth to join they need parent permission. Please fill out and submit your information and e-signature on this Parent Permission Form.

YUUP is all about creating a safer online space where youth can be their wonderful selves. There are 5 youth and adult Community moderators who support everyone in following the YUUP Rules and Covenant.

This server follows the Unitarian Universalist Association’s Youth Safety Guidelines which means:

  1. Invite links are only sent by the Server Owner and should not be shared
  2. Members should be known by a UU congregation
  3. Channels are observed by at least 2 background checked adults
  4. Server Owner keeps list of emergency contact information for youth members
  5. Adults will inform Server Owner who will inform Co-Director of Lifespan Faith Engagement at UUA if a youth mentions harm to self/other(s)
  6. Members will be removed for breaking a rule (see permission form) and invited to participate in a restorative process if they want to return to the server
  7. Members must agree to and abide by a covenant.

Covenant summary:
YUUP Discord members agree to be welcoming, inclusive, respectful and supportive. We practice consent, active listening and prioritizing our own and others’ emotional well-being.

All youth must agree to the rules and covenant before they can join and are verified by the Server Owner (UUA staff).
